2025 Hawai‘i Oral Health Summit Outcomes: Looking Ahead to 2026

2025 Hawai‘i Oral Health Summit Outcomes: Looking Ahead to 2026

On October 10, 2025, community advocates, oral health stakeholders, health professionals, and partners from across the state gathered for a full day of learning, connection, and collaboration. The Hawai‘i Oral Health Summit, held at the Ala Moana Hotel Conference Room in Honolulu, featured a keynote speaker, breakout sessions, state investments, and a vision for oral health in Hawai‘i, as well as a cross-sector panel.

Throughout the day, attendees had opportunities to engage with statewide leaders in both oral health and public health, participating in sessions that highlighted relevant data, explored current trends in Hawai‘i’s oral health landscape, and covered topics ranging from access to care and policy to workforce development. Keynote Speaker Dr. Diane Paloma, President of Hawai‘i Dental Service (HDS), shared insights into the changing landscape of the dental industry in Hawai‘i, followed by updates on state investments from Matt Shim of the Hawai‘i Department of Health, Family Services Division.

Building on these commitments, Dr. Gavin Uchida of the Department of Human Services’ MedQUEST Division presented a vision for the future of oral health in Hawai‘i.

Mahalo to Hawai‘i Department of Health Family Health Services Division for sponsoring the 2025 Hawai‘i Oral Health Summit. We look forward to building on this momentum in partnership as we continue working to improve oral health for all of Hawai‘i.

Looking ahead to 2026

The summit concluded with the Hawai‘i Oral Health Coalition (HOHC) Annual Meeting, which provided updates on current initiatives and 2026 policy priorities. As the year comes to a close and the holiday season approaches, HOHC remains focused on advancing initiatives such as the statewide Oral Health Education and Promotion Campaign and entering into their year two strategic plan objectives.
