COVID-19 PUBLIC HEALTH ACTION.
WEBINAR 18. Jails, Justice, and the Challenges of COVID-19: A Public Health Crisis
VIDEO
Jails and prisons are not isolated from the impacts of COVID-19, with the stateʻs largest cluster at Oʻahu Community Correctional Center (OCCC). Hawaii’s correctional systems are an essential part of the public health system yet we are not doing enough to protect our incarcerated population. Join us as we discuss Hawaii’s history of incarceration, the conditions inside our prisons, breaking down the stereotypes of crimes, and how release, reducing arrests, and delaying sentencing can help to protect public health.
