They will explore the short- and long-term impacts of trauma on survivors, recognizing how these experiences influence healing and recovery. The training will also highlight best practices for supporting victims with compassion while emphasizing the importance of self-care for those providing services.
Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to define domestic violence and identify at least two key pieces of legislation related to it.
2. Participants will be able to describe three common trauma impacts experienced by survivors of domestic violence.
3. Participants will demonstrate strategies to support victims while identifying at least two self-care practices for themselves.
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the Hawaii Public Health Institute and the Western Region Public Health Training Center (WRPHTC).
