Healthy Food Drive (Color Flyer | B&W Flyer)

Hunger or food insecurity affects many families and individuals on Kaua‘i. A Healthy Food Drive is a great way to provide nutritious food to families in need. When your company, agency or business plans your next Food Drive, please consider making it a healthy one. Be sure to post your Healthy Food Drive on Get Fit Kauai’s Facebook page.

Community Food System Assessment (See the findings)

In March 2014, the ATHF Task Force completed a Community Food System Assessment (CFSA) of Kauai County. The goal of the CFSA was to learn more about food accessibility and to identify existing and potential sources of nutritious produce for Kauai’s low-income residents. The CFSA findings have been used to develop strategies that will increase access to healthy food for all residents of Kauai.

Indicators Report

Get Fit Kauai’s (GFK) Built Environment Task Force (BETF) prepared the first Kaua’i County Complete Streets Indicators Report in 2012, followed up with the second report in 2013… and the latest is the 2014 Complete Streets Indicator Report.

Kaua‘i Multimodal Land Transportation Plan (See the plan)

The MLTP is intended to serve as a guide for the development of county roads and streets, public transit, bicycle facilities, pedestrian facilities, agriculture-related transportation, and to promote the integration of land use planning with transportation system development. Additionally, the plan lays forth an ambitious vision for transportation on Kaua’i. The preferred scenario calls for dramatic increases in walking, bike, and transit trips, as well as the flat lining of Island-wide vehicle miles travelled (VMT).

GFK 2016 Worksite Wellness Challenge

Step-by-step instructions

Get Fit Kauai’s Worksite Wellness (WSW) Challenge is a 9-month worksite wellness competition that runs from February – October 2016. Each company listed above completed a survey (scorecard) at the beginning of the challenge and then take the same survey at the end of the challenge. During the 9-month challenge each team will be assigned a coach who will help set healthy goals that reflect policy, systemic and/or built environment changes in the worksite. Survey Topics include:

  • General Health
  • Physical Activity
  • Nutrition
  • Tobacco Control
  • Stress Reduction

Companies have from February 5th – October 31st, 2016 to work on these changes.

The survey consists of 41 “Yes or No” questions. Each question has a point value and will raise your final score when incorporated. The total number of points will determine which category your workplace will start this challenge. You will take the survey at the beginning and then again at the end of the ‘Challenge’. Your ending survey point total will be compared to your beginning survey point total and the point difference between your beginning and ending score will be your Final Challenge Score.

Scoring Levels:
Platinum = 106-120 points
Gold = 91-105 points
Silver =76-90
Bronze = 60-75 points
Copper = 59 or less points
Mokihana Status = Platinum for 3 years.
