This last week, our staff and board visited and learned about the property managed by the Kokua Kalihi Valley (KKV) Comprehensive Health Center and their 1.65 acre organic farm. This day of fellowship and bonding provided us an opportunity to rejuvenate and create relationships and bonds between existing and brand new staff, learn about the land, cultural aspects and food systems, and give back to the community by weeding, replanting and harvesting the olena (turmeric) garden patch. It was a beautiful sunny day filled with conversation and team work.

After working with the olena, we stopped at KKV’s Roots Café to enjoy a nutritious organic meal made from the same food grown and harvested at the Ho’oulu ‘Aina gardens.
