Director of Health Equity & Research

May Rose Dela Cruz, DrPH, MPH

Dr. Dela Cruz will join HIPHI on October 1 and will lead HIPHI’s health equity work, provide strategic leadership and begin to build HIPHI’s research initiatives.

Dr. Dela Cruz is an Assistant Researcher at University of Hawaii’s (UH) Office of Public Health Studies with current research projects on Filipino health, decreasing alcohol access to minors, and cancer prevention.  She was the Co-Project Director of ‘Imi Hale Native Hawaiian Cancer Network, a program of Papa Ola Lōkahi, where she collaborated with key local, state, national, and international partners to reduce cancer incidence and mortality among Native Hawaiians, Filipinos, and Pacific Islanders through policy, advocacy, programs, and research. She received her Bachelor degree in Psychology, Master and Doctoral degrees in Public Health from UH.

 

Community Outreach Leads

HIPHI recently hired three community outreach leads focused on increasing vaccine equity and access. All three started in July and have been working hard in communities hardest hit by COVID-19. Rebecka Adolpho, MPH

Rebecka Adolpho was raised in Ho‘olehua, Moloka‘i. She recently graduated with her Master of  Public Health degree, specializing in social and behavioral health sciences. Her career interests include Native Hawaiian health, health service access for rural communities, and mental health. She is excited to have the opportunity to work with HIPHI and looks forward to working on COVID-19 issues and building professional connections.

Jessica Cabusog, MPH

Jessica Cabusog was born and raised on O‘ahu and graduated from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa with a  Bachelor’s degree in Biology (’18) and Master of Public Health (’20). She is currently in the process of applying to medical school in hope of becoming a physician that works with underserved communities in Hawai‘i. She is passionate about social determinants of health and health disparities and looks forward to using her public health background to serve on the Covid vaccine equity outreach project with HIPHI. 

Justina Clanton, MPH

Justina was born and raised on O‘ahu and attended the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, where she received her BA in Public Health and her Master of Public Health with a focus on  Social & Behavioral Health Sciences. She has experience in suicide prevention training and research and health communications. She is excited for the opportunity to work in the community alongside HIPHI on COVID-19 vaccine equity.

Chief Financial Officer

Position Summary: Hawai‘i Public Health Institute (HIPHI) is looking for a hands-on leader with integrity and desire to work in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a part of HIPHI’s Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and will help to lead and support the continued growth of HIPHI. The CFO will supervise HIPHI’s finance team, and will continue to build and lead effective and streamlined financial systems, including financial, accounting, legal, and human resources. The CFO will oversee all compliance and regulation for government (federal, state, city) contracts and private grants. This person must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented workplace. This position is based in HIPHI’s Honolulu office.

Director of Development

Position Summary: Hawai‘i Public Health Institute (HIPHI) is looking for a hands-on leader with integrity and desire to work in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. The Director of Development serves as a key member of HIPHI’s Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and will help to lead and support the continued growth of HIPHI. In partnership with the CEO, this position will be responsible for all fundraising and development efforts including but not limited to solicitation of donations, federal, state and local government grants, foundation grants, and fundraising events. This position will work closely with HIPHI’s finance and operations team, senior leadership, and program managers and HIPHI’s Board of Directors (BOD) fund development team.
