We are proud to announce that Keiki Heroes is joining the Hawai‘i Public Health Institute (HIPHI) ‘ohana!
Keiki Heroes is an initiative created by Hawaiʻi STEM Community Care, a coalition of local organizations, students and volunteer leaders in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The initiative aims to help our keiki learn positive behaviors that empower them to thrive during the pandemic and beyond. Keiki Heroes achieves this by providing multimedia tools and resources geared towards youth on learning about COVID-19, vaccines, prevention steps and living a healthy lifestyle.
Keiki Heroes has been led by a group of volunteers who have poured out passion, time, resources and much love into developing the project. We are inspired by the collaboration between many partners who have started and sustained the project. Keiki Heroes has been funded by generous community donors, business partners, grants, and federal funding. We want to thank Renae Akau, Rebecca Choi, Mary Beth Laychak, Christine Matsuda, Noel Morin and Gail Takaki for their continuation on the project as an advisory committee who will continue to guide HIPHI in the project’s original intent and goals.
We hope to continue working with the original artist, Yuko Green, to continue developing new health education materials and identifying additional projects and partners for Keiki Heroes! As we work to advance the health and wellness of the people and islands of Hawai‘i, we will tailor our education and outreach to keiki. This opportunity to have Kai and Hōkū support programs around all areas of health will be a valuable resource not only to children, but those who work closely with them and their ‘ohanas. We are excited to amplify the reach and impact of Kai, Hōkū and the Keiki Heroes initiative.
