Part of getting young people engaged in health is making it FUN. To close out the year, each island brought together health-minded youth to connect and celebrate tobacco-free living through conversation and team activities.
In Maui County, we had a perfect break in some pretty gloomy weather for our Live & Play Tobacco-Free event! We started the day with a meet and greet where the kids introduced themselves and the current youth council members gave the Molokai kids a description of their involvement on the council this year. We then played some games and did a park cleanup/scavenger hunt. The winner, Justin, collected 332 butts and our grand total was 921, along with 7 additional bags of trash.
