Officials in Maui County currently advise anyone not located on the island of Maui to contribute funds instead of supplies. Monetary donations allow local organizations to secure and distribute needed resources. Avoid shipping donated goods to Maui at this time.

Contribute Supplies (Maui Only)
If you are currently located on Maui, you may be able to donate supplies locally. Types of donations accepted, volunteer needs, and hours of operation vary by site. Up-to-date information is available through Maui County’s Maui Nui Strong website.

Applications are open for displaced Maui residents to connect with homeowners and landlords offering available housing units. An up-to-date listing and interactive map of temporary housing inventory on Maui is now available. - Maui Food Bank
Multiple food distribution sites are open across Maui. - SNAP Hot Foods Waiver
SNAP recipients affected by the Maui wildfires may purchase hot foods with SNAP benefits at select retailers through October 14, 2023.

Replacing Vital Records
Replacement vital records, including birth and marriage certificates, can be ordered online through the Hawaiʻi State Department of Health (DOH). Fees for first replacement copies are being waived for Maui residents with a FEMA disaster assistance ID number and/or a valid Lāhainā residential address.

Financial Relief Resolution
- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hawaiʻi Wildfires Disaster Assistance
All individuals who were impacted by the Maui fires should apply for FEMA assistance. Submit an application online or call 800-621-FEMA (3362).
Note: If you have insurance, file a claim with your insurance company immediately. FEMA assistance cannot help with losses already covered by insurance. - FEMA Disaster Recovery Center

Employment and Jobs
- Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA)
Workers, business owners, and self-employed individuals in Maui County who became unemployed or had their work hours reduced or interrupted due to the wildfires may be eligible for DUA benefits for the period of August 13, 2023, through February 10, 2024. Eligible Maui residents should apply as soon as possible. The application deadline has been extended to October 25, 2023.

Each of the locations above will have Mental Health Services, Nursing Services, Pharmacy Services, Social Work Services, and HUDVASH consultations available from VAPIHCS. Donated items will be distributed as they become available.

Unsafe water advisories for Upper Kula and Lahaina are currently in effect. Residents should not drink and/or boil water. Bottled water should be used for all drinking, brushing teeth, ice making, and food preparation until further notice. Residents are unable to treat the water in any way to make it safe.
