Hawai‘i Public Health Institute (HIPHI) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that supports and promotes policy efforts to create a healthy Hawai‘i. Elected officials have a pivotal role in shaping the policies that influence health in Hawai‘i, and we feel that it is important to know where candidates stand on public health issues facing our community.

Through this public health candidate survey, we aim to help voters learn their candidates’ position on public health issues they care about. Candidates were surveyed on topics including COVID-19 response and recovery, healthy eating and active living policies, economic justice, oral health, and regulations on tobacco, alcohol and marijuana.

Candidates are sorted by county, then by contest. Click on a candidate’s name to view their full survey responses.

Hawaiʻi Votes By Mail!

This year will be the first all-mail election for Hawai‘i! All registered voters will receive their ballots in the mail 18 days prior to the election (July 21 for the Primary Election; October 16 for the General Election). Voters can return their ballot by mailing it with USPS (mail it a few days prior to ensure it arrives on time!) or drop it off at a voter service center or place of deposit.

If you miss the deadline to receive a mailed ballot, you can still vote! Voter service centers provide accessible in-person voting, same day voter registration, and collection of voted ballots. Voter service centers open ten business days prior to the election and on Election Day.

Learn more about Vote by Mail on the Office of Elections website.
