Save the Date! “We Grow Hawaiʻi: A Youth Food Summit” hosted by Hawaiʻi Youth Food Council
Hawaiʻi Youth Food Council (HYFC) is thrilled to announce that we are hosting We Grow Hawaiʻi: A Youth Food Summit, a free, youth-led conference for youth, featuring food producers, policymakers, and statewide food system change makers, in late April. Please save the date and join us on Saturday April 29th, 2023 at Kahumana Food Hub & Organic Farms!
Although We Grow Hawai‘i has taken place annually for several years, this will be the first in-person summit that will be planned and run by youth members of the HYFC! As such, we are excited to carry forward our goal of promoting youth voices and inspiring youth involvement in Hawai‘i’s food systems, by involving dedicated young leaders as both organizers and attendees of the summit.
This year’s summit will revolve around Farm-to-School related themes, with an emphasis on promoting youth education in nutrition education and policy advocacy! Our event will feature themed presentations held by guest speakers, several on-the-ground food- and farming-related workshops, as well as policy advocacy activities, all of which will be facilitated by HYFC members.
While our event is open to all youth and youth allies, we are especially excited to invite middle and high school-aged peers to attend. If you are interested in learning more about the event, please contact us at hawaiiyouthfoodcouncil@gmail.com . If you would like to register for the event, please click on the link below to be redirected to our Eventbrite page, and register by the designated deadline.
We are also currently seeking guest presenters! If you are interested in applying, please fill out this form by Saturday, April 15.
