Back to School: 808NOVAPE is Back in Session

It’s that time of year when we return from summer vacation and youth return to the classroom. As quickly as students returned to school, the 808NOVAPE campaign was back to providing prevention education to young people. 

The Coalition for a Tobacco-Free Hawai‘i got a head start on the school year and presented to the new 2024 cohort of Youth E-Cigarette Prevention (YEP) Grantees in late July. The YEP Grantees were trained to lead their own youth vaping prevention presentations and will be adding to our already wide reach of tobacco prevention education. On August 5, the very first day of school, we were at the Waiʻanae Boys and Girls Club educating students about the dangers of vaping and the manipulative tactics of the tobacco industry. 

Looking ahead, we already have 808NOVAPE presentations scheduled through February 2025, and our newest “Breathe Aloha” mural is on schedule to be painted and unveiled at Kapolei Middle School in September 2024. The 808NOVAPE team is excited to continue our outreach in the community and reach as many people as possible with the necessary information to make informed decisions about their health.
