The Healthy Eating + Active Living (HEAL) Coalition for Maui, Molokaʻi and Lanaʻi has been actively working with the community to implement the Choose Healthy Now campaign, created as a part of the Department of Health’s Start Living Healthy program. The Choose Healthy Now (CHN) campaign encourages point-of-decision prompts and product labeling to motivate shoppers to choose healthier options. The CHN signage is especially effective at convenience stores, workplace cafeterias, snack shops, and grocery stores. Check out the Choose Healthy Now materials and download them for free here.

You can find the CHN campaign in the Aloha Mart convenience stores located throughout Maui and, soon, at Maui Memorial Medical Center’s cafeteria and snack shop once the transition to Kaiser has been executed. This is a great place for the Choose Healthy Now campaign as both employees and visitors of the hospital eat from the cafeteria and snack shop.

We also just implemented the CHN signage at Pine Isle Market located on Lanaʻi. We are very grateful for their enthusiasm and warm welcome to the program and hope it will help the local community identify the healthier options. Richardʻs Market, also on Lanaʻi, is soon to follow with implementing CHN.
