HIPHI builds bridges to communities with new staff position

The change from spring to summer also brings a shift in roles here at the Hawai‘i Public Health Institute (HIPHI).

Stephanie Moir will be transitioning out of her current role as Tobacco Free Kaua’i Coordinator into a new Statewide Community Organizer position.  This position will allow HIPHI to explore health through the eyes of the community, broadening overall understanding of what creates health and strengthening the capacity of communities to create their own healthful future. HIPHI will continue the well received Perspectives on Community Health field trips, which bring government, academia, businesses and health partners together to visit organizations who are currently working at the community level to improve community health. Be sure to check out our event calendar and sign-up for our emails to stay in the loop about our next trips.

Through the Community Organizer position, HIPHI will expand its work with the next generation of public health champions, including serving as a hub for internships where students and organizations can come to for information and placements.

We are excited about the possibilities!  Stephanie Moir can be reached at or 808-591-6508 EXT 9, then press 4.
