Addressing Burnout: Helping the Helpers

This workshop will explore the effects of anxiety and trauma, differentiate between burnout, compassion fatigue, and trauma responses, and identify protective and risk factors. Participants will walk away with self-care strategies, coping tools, and local crisis resources to better support themselves and others.
Objectives:
1. Discuss the impact of stress, anxiety, and trauma on the individual.
2. Differentiate between burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma.
3. Discuss protective factors and risk factors. Identify self-care and coping skills to address burnout. Review crisis resources available to the community.
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the Hawaii Public Health Institute and the Western Region Public Health Training Center (WRPHTC). The WRPHTC is jointed accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continued Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
