Coping With Unexpected Loss

Coping with Unexpected Loss: Supporting families through perinatal loss and complex diagnoses aims to educate healthcare workers on the issues surrounding perinatal loss and complex diagnoses for their babies. This webinar will review several clinical scenarios around miscarriage, periviability, and prenatal diagnoses for infants. From there, key issues, healthcare interventions, and supportive resources will be discussed.

Training Objectives:

1. Recognize and support the needs of women, their partners, and health care professionals when a woman experiences a miscarriage 2. Examine critical issues and treatment options for women and their partners when an infant is born at periviability
3. Review supportive strategies for women and their partners when presented with an unexpected complex diagnosis for their baby
4. Identify local and online resources for the support of women and their families when experiencing an unexpected perinatal loss or complex diagnosis.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the Hawaii Public Health Institute and the Western Region Public Health Training Center (WRPHTC). The WRPHTC is jointed accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continued Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
