Perspectives on Community Health Field Trip: Kūkaniloko: Hawaiian Birthing Stones

July 17, 2025 @ 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
Kūkaniloko: Hawaiian Birthing Stones

Join us for our next Perspectives on Community Health trip on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM for a special visit to Kūkaniloko birthing stones represent a sacred cultural site where aliʻi (chiefs) enter the world, symbolizing ancestral strength and community well-being.

Rooted in Native Hawaiian knowledge and supported by an Office of Hawaiian Affairs program, Kūkaniloko is a living space for cultural learning, public health awareness, and environmental stewardship. A regenerative Indigenous seed bank fosters food sovereignty and nutritional resilience. At the same time, efforts in emergency preparedness and wildfire prevention demonstrate the role of native plant restoration in protecting both land and community health. Spots are limited, and the deadline to register is July 15.

For more information or if you have questions, please contact Kawika Kahiapo at kawika@hiphi.org.
