Webinar – Innovations in Place – Based Dentistry : Concentric Circles of Care

March 25, 2025 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Date: Tuesday, March 25th, 2025
Time: 12:00PM – 1:00PM (HST)
Presenter: Dr. Paul Glassman, DDS, MA, MBA, Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Community Engagement, College of Dental Medicine, California Northstate University

The Concentric Circles of Care model is based on the idea many people can have and maintain good oral health with resources that are far more available and far less costly than treatment in a dental office. There is now an opportunity to combine several previously proven strategies in a demonstration of full-service, full-population, community engaged oral health system. This system recognizes the value of dental clinics and offices for advanced and complex oral health services. It also uses oral health professionals working in community locations to gather oral health records and perform preventive and early intervention procedures in those locations. In addition, it uses non-health licensed people such as school staff, home visitors and others to identify those community members at highest risk for oral disease, provide support for adoption of “mouth healthy habits” and perform some oral health preventive procedures. And finally it uses a data and communication system to ties all the pieces of the system together. The Concentric Circles of Oral Health Care system described here has many benefits including the ability to expand the number of people who can be reached and served in this oral health system and the ability to lower costs and improve population health.
