The Hawai‘i Public Health Training Hui (Hui), coordinated by Hawai‘i Public Health Institute, continues to provide valuable workshops that are accessible and impactful. With one of our Hui coordinated workshops, Social Workers, Registered Dietitians, Substance Abuse Counselors (CSAC), Certified Health-Education specialist (CHES), and Nurses also receive continuing education credit hours.
The first official webinar by HIPHI on Friday, April 26, 2019, drew more than 280 participants. The training, Native Hawaiian Health and Wellbeing: Progress and Recommendations, was presented by Papa Ola Lokahi Executive Director, Sheri Daniels. Health professionals across the state joined others from Nevada, Texas, and Virginia to participate in April’s workshop.
The most recent workshop held on May 17, 2019, titled Professional Ethics Guiding Decisions-Making In Dementia Care included participants from Guam, South Carolina, and Utah and was presented by Linda Axtell-Thompson, DBe, MBA, Principal for Axtell Consulting, LLC and Adjust Faculty at CUH, UHWO, and UHM. In addition to the health professional training series, the Hui will also continue to share other training opportunities that may be of interest for public health professionals.
The next upcoming training will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019, from 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM. The training, The Restless Mind: Finding Peace and Support in a Busy World, to be presented by Mestisa C. Gass, PsyD., Progam Director at Mental Health America of Hawai‘i.
