Post-Election: Our Continued Commitment to Health

Aloha,
At HIPHI, our commitment to the health and well-being of Hawai‘i’s people and communities is integral to who we are. One election doesn’t change our mission or the core values we live by. But we also know that the leaders we elect have a huge influence on the health of our communities. Every day, decisions are made that affect all of us and reflect the values and priorities of those in office.
Over the past few months, we worked hard to encourage voting and to share where candidates stood on important public health issues, hoping to empower our community to make informed choices.
To everyone who cast a vote—thank you. A strong democracy depends on each of us exercising our right to vote, and as some of our local elections showed, every single vote makes a difference. Casting your ballot was one step in shaping the future of our community.
But now that the elections are behind us, where do we go from here? Whether or not the candidates you supported won, our role in democracy doesn’t stop when the polls close. Advocacy, change, and progress don’t start or end on election day—they’re built day by day, through ongoing participation.
We’re committed to fighting for health at all levels of government, whether that means advocating for changes that will improve the well-being of our communities or protecting the fundamental rights that uphold. But we can’t do this work alone, and there’s a lot at stake.
Now is the time to stay engaged and amplify our collective voice. We urge you to get involved: attend public meetings, reach out to your representatives, support community initiatives, and encourage those around you to do the same. During this time of uncertainty, it is imperative that we continue to work together to uplift the health of all.
With Aloha,
