Summer 2024 Update from Our CEO

Jessica Yamauchi

Aloha,

This year has been flying by, and it’s already time to mark your calendars for HIPHI’s annual Summer Social on June 26! Reflecting on last year’s celebration of HIPHI’s ten-year milestone, we’re filled with even greater enthusiasm for the future. This year, our Summer Social will not only celebrate our past successes but also highlight our continued commitment to advancing health equity and recognize some of our incredible partners and advocates. Additionally, we will be releasing our annual legislative recap, providing a summary of the 2024 legislative session as it relates to public health. If you’d like to download a copy of the 2024 legislative recap, it will be available on our website at the end of June.

HIPHI is at an exciting crossroads as we begin the process of developing a five-year strategic plan for our organization. Over the past few years, we’ve experienced significant change and growth, and are now focused on how we can sustain the progress, identify where we can make meaningful contributions to advancing health in our state, and align our growth to meet our community’s evolving needs.  As we dive into our planning, HIPHI is committed to keeping health equity front and center and prioritizing community preparedness and resiliency – strengthening our communities’ ability to respond, adapt, and persist in the face of challenges and adversity.

We are thrilled to welcome nine new members to our HIPHI ‘ohana this quarter: Alice Liu, Amy Tennyson, Gendalin Amram, Jacqueline Rodriguez, Kawika Kahiapo, Leigh Ann Lopez, Lindsay Terkelsen, Melia Schneck, Paige Ka‘ohu Kawakami, and Samuel Rontale. If you or someone you know is interested in joining our team, please visit hiphi.org/employment for current opportunities.

Mahalo for your continued support and dedication. Together, we are making a difference and shaping a healthier future for all. I hope you all get to take some time and enjoy the long summer days. Practicing self-care is something we all need to do.

We look forward to seeing you at the Summer Social and continuing our journey together!

With Aloha,

Jessica Yamauchi
