HIPHI Welcomes Jahkotta and Kristell

HIPHI is excited to welcome two new staff members!

East Hawai‘i Tobacco and HEAL Coalition Coordinator

Jahkotta Lewis, joined HIPHI in May of 2022 as the East Hawai‘i Coalition Coordinator for CTFH and HEAL. She previously worked for the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii and the National Park Service as a Cultural Resource Specialist. With a background in cultural resources, public outreach, intra-agency policy, and cooperative agreements, she brings a unique set of skills to tobacco prevention and control. Jahkotta holds a BA from the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo. She enjoys gardening and raising baby goats.

Policy & Advocacy Associate

Kristell Corpuz, joined HIPHI in May 2022 and serves as HIPHI’s Policy and Advocacy Team member. She helps to lead and support the growth of HIPHI through the development and advancement of policies that address Hawaii’s public health, which includes tobacco prevention and control, healthy eating and active learning, social health determinants, oral health, and food systems resiliency. Before joining HIPHI, she worked at the Hawaii Department of the Attorney General as a Community and Crime Prevention Specialist. She has a bachelor’s degree in American Studies and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Kristell spends her free time cooking for family and friends and reading.
